KC ISLA Panoramic 70mm Garden Sauna — Terrace & Optional Outdoor Shower
Heat, Light and Recovery in One Connected Space
The KC ISLA Panoramic Garden Sauna combines a substantial timber sauna with an adjoining outdoor terrace, creating a natural transition between heat, fresh air and cold-water recovery.
Its panoramic glass frontage brings daylight into the sauna and opens the interior towards the surrounding garden, while dual Aspen benches create a calm heat environment for approximately 2–4 people.
Outside, the integrated terrace provides a dedicated place to cool down, add an outdoor shower or position a compatible compact cold-therapy system, subject to the final equipment and site requirements.
The result is more than a standalone sauna.
It is a connected garden wellness space designed around the complete ritual:
Heat → Step Outside → Cool Shower → Breathe → Recover
Panoramic by Design
The full-height glass frontage is central to the ISLA experience.
It allows natural light to move through the sauna and creates a stronger visual connection between the internal heat room and the garden beyond.
Rather than feeling enclosed, the room remains bright, open and architectural while preserving the warmth and material character of the Nordic Spruce structure.
An internal glass door separates the sauna from the adjoining terrace and creates a clear transition between the heated room and outdoor recovery space.
Perceived privacy will vary according to internal and external lighting conditions, so final positioning should account for neighbouring properties and surrounding sightlines.
A Terrace Built Into the Ritual
The adjoining terrace is included as part of the ISLA structure.
It creates a practical outdoor transition space that can be used for:
- Cooling down between sauna rounds
- Breathwork and quiet recovery
- Towel and robe storage during use
- An optional outdoor shower
- A compatible compact cold plunge
- A small recovery or seating area
The outdoor shower is not included as standard and is selected separately where required.
Shower installation will require an appropriate water supply, plumbing route and drainage strategy. These should be considered before the sauna position and base are finalised.
Where a cold plunge is added, its dimensions, filled weight, access, filtration and drainage requirements must also be reviewed as part of the wider project.
Built in 70mm Nordic Spruce
The ISLA is constructed from substantial 70mm Nordic Spruce walls, giving the structure a strong, traditional timber presence and supporting year-round outdoor use when correctly installed, protected and maintained.
Nordic Spruce provides:
- A pale, natural timber appearance
- Classic Scandinavian character
- A warm contrast against the panoramic glazing
- A suitable surface for clear or coloured exterior treatments
- A solid structural base for a larger garden sauna
As an outdoor timber structure, the ISLA requires appropriate exterior treatment and ongoing care.
The external finish can be tailored around the property through clear protection or selected architectural colour treatments where shown within the configurator.
Optional Insulated Roof Upgrade
An optional 100mm insulated roof-panel upgrade is available for customers wanting to enhance the roof build-up for regular year-round use.
The upgrade may be particularly relevant where:
- The sauna will be used frequently through winter
- The property is in a more exposed location
- Improved heat retention is a project priority
- The sauna is intended for holiday-let or higher-use environments
The final roof and heater specification should be considered together so the complete heat environment is matched to the intended use.

FAQ's
Do I need planning permission for an outdoor sauna in the UK?
Many domestic garden saunas in England can be installed under permitted development rights because sauna cabins are treated as garden outbuildings. However, every relevant limit and condition must still be satisfied. Permission may be required depending on the sauna’s position, proximity to boundaries, total garden coverage, property type and whether the site is listed or located within designated land. Different rules may also apply in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, or where the sauna is intended for commercial or holiday-let use. The optional shower, electrical supply and any wood-fired chimney should also be considered as part of the complete proposal. We recommend confirming the intended installation address with us prior to starting foundation, plumbing or electrical works.
What size sauna heater does a panoramic glass outdoor sauna need?
The correct heater must be calculated from the sauna’s effective heated-room volume, rather than from its external dimensions alone. Harvia’s general guidance allows approximately 1kW of heater output for every cubic metre of sauna volume. It also recommends increasing the calculation for glass and other non-insulated surfaces: every square metre of glass adds approximately the same heater demand as an additional 1.2m³ of room volume. Because the KC ISLA has substantial panoramic glazing, the glass allowance is particularly important. The final heater package should therefore be confirmed against: Internal heated-room dimensions Total glass area Roof-insulation specification Electric or wood-fired heat path Available electrical supply Intended frequency of use KeiCo can match the appropriate Harvia or HUUM package to the completed ISLA configuration.
Can I add an outdoor shower or cold plunge to the KC ISLA sauna terrace?
Yes. The adjoining ISLA terrace is designed to create a practical transition between the sauna, fresh air and cold-water recovery. An outdoor shower can be added subject to a suitable water supply, isolation, frost protection, compliant backflow protection and an agreed drainage route. UK water-fitting guidance requires showers to have appropriate protection against contamination of the drinking-water supply, with the final arrangement determined by the installation and local requirements. A compatible cold plunge may also be incorporated, but its: External dimensions Filled operating weight Access requirements Filtration or chiller connections Drainage and maintenance space must be reviewed before the base and layout are finalised. Wastewater must be managed so that it does not create pollution, flooding or nuisance. Shower, plumbing and drainage works are quoted separately unless expressly included within the agreed KeiCo project scope.
What base does the KC ISLA outdoor sauna need?
The KC ISLA requires a solid, level, well-drained and load-bearing base supporting the complete structure and terrace evenly. The sauna weighs approximately 950kg before the heater, users, accessories and any terrace-based recovery equipment are added. Suitable foundation routes may include: A correctly prepared concrete slab An engineered paving system over a compacted structural sub-base A suitable ground-screw foundation A reinforced deck or framed platform designed for the completed load An existing hardstanding confirmed as structurally suitable The base should not be laid directly onto grass, loose soil or an uneven surface. If a cold plunge is positioned on or beside the terrace, its full water-filled weight must be included within the structural assessment. Shower drainage, cable routes and future servicing access should also be planned before the foundation is installed. KeiCo can review the proposed site and provide a separate base-preparation quotation where required.
How much does an outdoor sauna cost to run in the UK?
The simplest way to estimate the running cost of an electric sauna is: Heater output in kW × operating time in hours × your electricity unit rate Using the current Great Britain average default-tariff electricity rate of approximately 26.11p per kWh for July to September 2026: An 8kW heater drawing full power for one hour would cost approximately £2.09 A 9kW heater drawing full power for one hour would cost approximately £2.35 These are full-power examples rather than guaranteed session costs. In normal operation, the heater may cycle on and off after the desired temperature is reached. Actual consumption will depend on: Selected heater output Outdoor temperature Warm-up time Panoramic glass area Roof-insulation choice Door opening Session duration Your individual electricity tariff The daily standing charge is not included because it would normally be payable regardless of sauna use.
