Do I need planning permission for an outdoor barrel sauna in the UK?
Many domestic garden saunas in England can be installed under permitted development rights because sauna cabins are treated as outbuildings. However, conditions apply to their position, height, proximity to boundaries, total garden coverage and whether the property is listed or located on designated land. At 2,250mm high, the KC 400 sits below the usual 2.5m height limit for an outbuilding positioned within two metres of a boundary, but every other condition must still be met. Wood-fired chimney or flue arrangements should also be checked separately. Always confirm the proposal with your local planning authority before installation.
What base does the KC 400 barrel sauna need?
